7 Free Things To Do In Malmö
We spent a week in Malmö for Christmas. It was a great time as the city was covered in snow and decorations. It was so quiet and we had a relaxing time here. This is how we recommend you spend your time here.

Where to stay?
The hotel that we stayed at was called the Clarion Hotel Malmö Live. We got a very good deal through Travel Circus. The room was lovely and we had a harbour view. The buffet breakfast at the Eatery Social Taqueria was included and it was one of the best we have experienced. They had a gym, sauna and bicycles for hire (€10 per day). On the top floor (25th) there was a luxurious Sky Bar and Restaurant called Kitchen & Table with stunning views of the city. We had an amazing dinner here on Christmas Eve. The location is ideal as it is located 400 metres from the Central Train Station.
Ribersborg Beach
We hired bicycles from the hotel and rode about 3 km to the beach. There had been a huge snowfall the day previously and it was really weird to see snow on a sandy beach. From the beach, we were able to get great views of the Øresund Bridge (connects Denmark and Sweden) and the Turning Torso (tallest building in Scandinavia and first twisted skyscraper in the world). Along the beach were many photogenic piers and large areas of parks. At the end of one of these piers is Ribersborg open-air public bath. The bath has two separate areas for women and men and has saunas and warm baths if the water is too cold for you. My favourite pier was the longest boardwalk which was perfectly straight out to sea and looked like it didn’t end.
Parks
Our favourite parks were Mölleplasen, Kungsparken and Slottsträdgården. All three parks are surrounded by canals and connected by bridges. When we woke up to snow, the first thing we did was explore this winter wonderland and build snowmen. In the Mölleplasen park, there is the beautiful Slottsmöllan Windmill and next to it is the Castle.
Konsthall
Konsthall is one of the largest exhibition halls in Europe for contemporary art. It is free entrance.
Lilla Torg
It is the main square with beautiful old buildings and many nice restaurants/bars. There are lots of outdoor seats and heaters to keep warm. We had a lovely dinner at Victor's and it was reasonably priced for Sweden. There was a giant lamp and Christmas tree in the square.
Library
The City Library is located at the corner of a park called Slottsparken. There are two sections of the library, from the front it looks like a castle and the back is modern. The back section lets natural light through its gigantic full height glass wall and looks out over the picturesque park. It’s a perfect place to read a book.
Triangeln
From the above ground, the only thing you can see of the Train Station is the distinctive glass dome top. Next to the station is the impressive St John’s Church.
Lighthouse
20 metre high, red and white octagonal lighthouse located at the entrance to the inner harbour.
