Why You Must Go To Phi Phi Island?

Getting There

You can fly to Phuket and take the 2-hour ferry to Phi Phi Island. As you approach the island you will pass sheer cliff faces and pristine beaches. This is a significant contrast to the crowded streets and packed beaches on Phuket.

The island is very small and you can walk everywhere. The island has no cars. If you're wanting to travel along the coast you can pay for a small boat to take you there.

Phi Phi Island

Island Hopping & Snorkelling

The beaches on Phi Phi are beautiful and relaxing but if you want to do more exploring a boat tour is a great option. There are cheap small boat tours around the surrounding islands and snorkelling spots. They will provide snorkels and a small lunch. In some spots, you can jump into the water and be surrounded by hundreds of fish. The water is so clear. When food is thrown into the water all the fish swarm towards it. The boat will stop at small islands with secluded beaches surrounded by towering cliffs. The stops are short and you will want to spend longer.

Maya bay for sunset is the highlight. You can get dropped off on the other side of the island. You will walk across a shallow reef to a vertical ladder that will take you over a rock wall into the jungle. The jungle track leads you to Maya Bay. A movie called 'The Beach' is filmed on this island. The beautiful bay was surrounded by rugged mountains. Unfortunately, it was very busy with loud and drunk tourists from booze cruises. When its time to leave, you will walk out through the shallow water to your boat. I highly recommend doing a boat tour in the afternoon for the sunset.

Nightlife

Experience the famous nightlife on the Northern beach. Slinky and Woody are the popular nightclubs. Music blasted over the beach as people sprawled out from the bar to the water. Drinks were served in buckets with multiple straws. There was a 3-meter high timber post with a small platform. People would climb to the top and dance on the platform as the crowd cheered. A large skipping rope was lit on fire as fearless tourists jumped in. Nearby was a competition to see who could go under the flaming limbo pole. It was a mix between a beach club and a circus.
